Bruce Murray

Mr. Bruce Murray 65, of Des Moines, Iowa passed away on November 21th, 2024. His funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 5, 2024, at King of Kings Missionary Baptist Church in Des Moines, Iowa at 3:00 p.m. A private family burial will take place at a later date.

Bruce Duncan Murray was born on October 29, 1959 to Ray Kennerly & Betty L. Murray in Des Moines, Iowa. He was educated through the Des Moines Public School System where he graduated from Des Moines Technical High School. Bruce furthered his education at the University of Sioux Falls in South Dakota. He majored in Business Administration. 

Bruce spent most of his working days as a Correctional Officer for 15 years. He also worked at the Boys Home and at The Fort. Bruce spent most of his time with his girlfriend, Christina; whom he has been with for 5 years. Bruce would visit his Big, Little Brother, Marvin. Bruce and Marvin were best friends. They both shared a passion for the Miami Dolphins, NFL Team. Remember, nobody has matched their undefeated season from 1972. 

On Thursday, November 21, 2024, Bruce transitioned from this earthly life to his eternal life. He was preceded in death by his father, Ray Kennerly; mother, Betty L. Murray; daughter, Destiny Danielle Murray; brothers, Ralph Murray and Raymond Murray; sister-in-law, Brenda Murray; niece, Brittany Murray and nephew, Michael Simmons. 

Bruce's legacy will live through his daughter, Brittany Griggs (GA); 4 grandsons; siblings, Sandy Curtis (GA); Marsha (William) Franklin (CO), Linda (Izmaud) Johnson (IA) and Marvin (Donna) Wesley (IA); half-sister, Marla Kennerly - Jones (GA); Half-brother, Michael Kennerly (IA); aunts, Arla Hollins (GA) and Pauline Morris (IA) and Jonnetta Camp - Bey (IA); and a host of extended family and friends.
