Billie Jean Moore was born in Des Moines Iowa March 15, 1937 . She was raised by her mother, Gladys Mae Burrell. Billie attended Des Moines Tech High School. Shortly after high school Billie wed the love of her life Mr. John Moore. They met in a barbershop in South Carolina and were married shortly thereafter. Sadly John would precede Billie in death.
Billie was a life long member of the Union Baptist Church. She joined under Reverend Seymour Gaines and was a faithful member after Reverend Henry Thomas became pastor. Billie was an avid Sunday School attendee and taught Sunday School for many years. She sang in the choir, served as an usher and trustee and on the Pastors Aide committee. She LOVED her church and pastor!
Billie loved her family dearly. She went by to see about her mom every day. She called her family often to check on them. She enjoyed family gatherings and Billie was the baker for all of them; she was great at baking pies and cakes. Billie loved meeting new people and traveling. She was a serious Green Bay Packers fan and a more serious card player. You had to know your stuff if you were going to partner with her for Bid Whist.
December 22, 2017, Billie answered the Masters call to rest. She was 80 years old. Preceding her in death were her husband, John Moore Sr.; son, John Moore Jr; her mother, Gladys Stubberfield; her granddaughter, Melissa and sister, Claudette Crenshaw.
Left to cherish Billies memory are her daughter, Dana May; her grandson, John Alicks Moore III; her great grandchildren, Alexis, Suraya, Phoenix, Jada and Roman; her siblings, Donna Mae Jackson, Colleen Green and Harvey Lloyd; special niece, Donisha Morris and god daughter, Cina Carter along with many, many friends.
