Ms. Bettye Crump Jarrett, 84, passed away peacefully at her home on February 22, 2019.

Bettye Lee Crump-Jarrett was born December 6, 1934 to James Eddie Crump, Sr. and Bennie Bell Brown in Como, MS. She was the oldest of twenty-eight children. Bettye was educated and graduated from Hamilton High School in Memphis, TN. She attended the Philander Smith College in Little Rock, AK and later went to LA Business College in Los Angeles, CA where she received her AA degree. Bettye worked for various employers a a key punch, data entry and processing technician. Her employers throughout her adult life included: Northrop Grumman, Aerospace, Byron Jackson Borg- Warner; Federal Census, Ms. Pats Ladys Clothing and Goldmans.

Bettye married Booker T. Jarrett, Jr. in California in 1964. From this union they were blessed with two sons, Booker III and Byron. Gone too soon, Booker Jr. passed away in 1984. Her faith kept her going. She was a member of Word of God MBC in Los Angeles, CA and Maple Street MBC in Des Moines Her most recent places of worship were at the New Life Center and Cottage Grove Church. She enjoyed and served as a distinguished Sunday school & vacation bible school scholar.

Bettye served in many roles and received numerous awards from La Salle Avenue PTA, Southern District of California PTA and the Bible Trivia Bowls. In her spare time, she loved to quilt, attend her grandchildrens sporting events, plays, musicals and local jazz concerts. She stayed active in her community and youth programming within her churches.

Bettye was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, auntie and friend and she will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her husband, Booker T. Jarrett, Jr.; her parents; James Crump and Bennie Brown; brother, Robert Leon Bailey; aunties, Amanda Russell; and Lizzie Mae Crump, uncles, Earl Brown, John Washington Brown.

Left to cherish Bettyes memory are her best friend and loving brother, James Crump; sons, Booker III and Byron, Sr.; grandchildren, Tristin, Danika, Zana, Byron Jr., Jackson, Booker IV, Adrianna, James, Alexia, Alayna and Brooke; nieces, Barbara Jean Crump, Miesha Austin, Montisha Ratliff; daughter-in-laws, Kathy, Bridgett, Jayme, Mindy; her family in Iowa, Mike Anderson, Keith Hanks, Mary Anne Kinney, Alison Kinney, Grace Bloomquist, Tara Carson, Crystal, Minister Judy & Deacon Kenneth Brown, Minister Quanda Brown, Michael Winn, Bob & Donna Walker; her family in Chicago, Beulah Doll, Janet and Vicky; along with a host of many other family members and friends.
