Betty Lou Moore

March 31, 1956 — March 14, 2016

Betty Lou Moore

Betty Lou Moore was born March 31, 1956 in Parma, Missouri to Willie Moore, Sr. and Alberta Jackson. Betty and her siblings, Nelvia Mae Davis, Willie 'Cisco' Moore, Jr and McKinley Moore, lost their mother at a young age. They moved to St Louis, MO with their father. He met and Melvina Whitfield and together they formed the original 'Brady Bunch'.

Betty Lou moved to Des Moines with Ophelia Jackson and was educated in the Des Moines Public School system. She attended and graduated from North High School and also furthered her education with classes from DMACC.

Betty was a hard worker and spent many years working for Methodist Medical Center. During her free time Betty loved to eat. One of her favorite pastimes was going out to eat. And because she loved to eat, she was also a great cook. Family gatherings were not complete without her hamburger pie or spaghetti. Betty loved to dance, too. She could "tear a chair up" when one of her old school jams came on. She was especially fond of Smokey Robinson. She was an avid reader and word search fan. Betty also enjoyed bowling, playing cards and watching the old black and white westerns. But most of all Betty loved spending time with her only child, NaShawna and her three grandchildren.

On March 13, 2016 Betty stepped from time into eternity. She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, Nelvia May Moore, Louise Pierce, Herbie Whitfield, niece, Celeste Pierce and uncle, Brian Kelly Jackson and Jimmy Whitfield.

Left to cherish Betty's memory is her only child, Nashawna Moore; three grandchildren, Na'Ila, Kharani and Ahmad; siblings, Willie (Rose) Moore Jr., Elder McKinley (Annise) Moore, Randy (Cathy) Whitfield, Joyce Whitfield, Odell Whitfield and Debra Singleton-Jackson; companion, Fred Narcisse and a host of other relatives and friends.
