Audie 'Murphy' Mobley

"Bless the Lord, O' my soul and all that is within me, bless His Holy Name" Psalms 103:1

This is the opening to a Scripture often quoted by Audie "Murphy" Mobley during his life. He was born September 19, 1957 the youngest of 11 children in Winston Salem NC to Robert Freedom Mobley and Viola Mobley Buford.

He graduated from RJ Reynolds High School in Winston Salem NC and worked for 20+ years at Sun Chemical in Richmond, VA on the production crew, then as a lab technician and finally as Production Manager. He received an associates degree in commercial graphic design at Des Moines Area Community College to pursue his GOD given talents.

Murphy prayed to receive our MESSIAH YESHUA, (JESUS CHRIST) into his life at an early age. He always had a tender heart toward the message of YESHUA (JESUS) and prayed to receive HIM many times... in church, at the street corner, at a revival meeting, preachers on television, whenever the call went out he responded. Without proper understanding he struggled during the early years as a Christian but rededicated his life to the LORD in 1990.

He was married to the woman he treasured and referred to as the most fabulous, wonderful, amazing, beautiful Nubian queen -- his only wife, Deborah Deloris Wallace for 36 years. They married March 1, 1980 during a snowstorm in Charlotte, NC. Unknown to them, this was a shadow of things to come since Murphy and Deborah moved to Iowa in 2001.

Murphy is known for his creative and artistic abilities and is also affectionately called Chiram, "gifted of GOD," by many people.

Murphy was part of the Ministry of SHOFAR'S leadership team. It is through this ministry that his gifts flourished, multiplied, and new expressions of worship were released through him.

Murphy transitioned to eternal life with GOD on October 25, 2016, in the presence of his wife Deborah, his sister-in-love Rose Wallace, his spiritual brother and sister Greg and Tammy Brown, his goddaughter and godson Darryl and Melissa Pettigrew and his great goddaughter, Eden Pettigrew.

Murphy is survived by his two children, Demarcus A. Bishop [Winston Salem NC] and Rashonda R. Rowe [Richmond VA] and 13 grandchildren whom he loved, blessed and prayed for continually. His siblings: Robert Freedom Mobley Jr. [Angel], Otto Mobley, Lee Grant Mobley, Patricia Ann Mobley, Olivia Vinson [James], and numerous nieces and nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by: his parents, Robert Freedom Mobley and Viola Mobley Buford; his siblings Virginia Lee Holland, Curtis Lee Mobley, Willie Henry Mobley, Ernest Freedom Mobley, and Curvy Clyde Buford.

Murphy was deeply loved and will be missed whenever it's time to celebrate and cookout. We will miss him playing the djembe or creating dance moves for praise and worship or just for fun. We will miss his apple cobblers. We will miss seeing him wear his many hats and sharp clothes. We will miss his laughter and his jokes since he loved to laugh. We will miss his good-natured competitive spirit in pool, horseshoes, or any game. We will miss his loving hugs and wonderful smile. We will miss the way he grumbled into his mustache and rolled his eyes when something did not go his way.

Murphy loved collecting swords and he loved kung fu movies, hats and fashion, video games, "manly "movies, technology, and cooking. He loved to travel and in 2015 he experienced the trip of a lifetime to Israel.

During his life, Murphy forever impacted so many others for the better. Everything within him blessed and honored GOD through his loving marriage, his family, the ministry he was a part of, his friends, his gifts -

His was a life well lived.
