Asada Shakur Moore-Hicks was born January 29, 1985 to Mary Moore, Jr. and Sekou Choqwe Mtayari, Sr. in Des Moines, Iowa.
Asada attended and graduated from the Des Moines Public School system. She continued her education and received certification as a nursing assistant and medication distributor. She was an entrepreneur and worked at various jobs throughout her life.
Asada was the life of the party. Asada marched to the beat of a different drummer. She lived life to the fullest and was always on the go, looking for a better opportunity. The fact that she had six children didnt slow her down, it motivated her to try harder. She was in the process of moving to Michigan for a better life.
Tragically, Asada lost her life in a car accident. She was 33 years old. Preceding her in death were her grandmother, Mary Moore, Sr.
Left to carry Asadas memory are her husband, Phillip Hicks; her children, November Hicks, Assata Mtayari, Roryon Hicks, Kato Frank Murray, Sade Murray and Brian Murray ; her parents, Mary Moore, Jr., Sekou Mtayari (Falecia); her siblings, Antione Williams (Lori), Mikele Williams (Abdul Kamara), Felicia Chumley (William Sr.), Deteama McGregor (Clyde), Ebony Banks, Sekou Moore, Camirri Winters (Melvin), Courtney Myatari, Tiffany Burgess, Chekesha Clark, LeTesha Clark, Stephanie Belt-Johnson, Sekou Mtayari, Jr. and Matthew V. Johnson, grandparents, Edward Henry (Joan), god mother, Peggy Johnson Elder, her "ride or die", Ebony Marks, and a host of cherished aunts, uncles, extended family and many friends. Visitation
