Anita Lorraine Boston (Hawkins)

Ms. Anita L. Boston passed away February 1, 2023.

Funeral services are planned for 11 am, February 7, 2023 Mission Temple Church of God in Christ.. A visitation will be held one hour prior to service.

Our mother, Anita L. Hawkins Boston was born January 12th, 1947 in Des Moines, Iowa to Robert Earl Hawkins & Marcel (Nichols) Hawkins. As the middle child of 7 children and the eldest girl, Mom was a natural caregiver. She always put others first and was first to offer help to anyone in need.

She went to East High School and was a lifelong member of the color guard. She still knew the EHS Fight Song & would belt it out every time we passed the school. Upon graduating from high school, Mom worked at Northwestern Bell and then Norwest Financial and. Most recently, she was a secretary at her dear friend Patricia Hulting's law firm.

Mom & Dad (Charles Boston) lived blocks away from each other growing up. From their love, four children were born: Jason Charles (Jordan, Kennedy, Dashing) Aaron James (Cierra, Aaron Jr., Kayla, Nashawn, Rakim, Traevon, Davaron, Deleecia) Alexsis Olivia (Olivia) and Adriann Clarice (Carter). Mom loved us & she LOVED her grandkids. She was the best advocate, supporter, cheerleader, friend and role model.

As a lifelong Christian, her faith was just a natural part of who she was. She had an understanding of God's Word that can only be described as supernatural. She went to Israel twice with Shofar Ministries and often attended Mission Temple COGIC.

Mom is preceded in death by Granny & Pompi, and her brothers Gary (Maureen) Hawkins, Larry (Maria) Hawkins, and Thomas (Teresa) Hawkins, and her son Justin Boston. She is survived by her brother Stanley (Barbara) Hawkins, Paulette (William) Fowler, Patrice Frazier.
