Albert Louie Parrish was born on December 17, 1940, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Rev. George and Lucy Parrish. He was educated and graduated from East High School. Albert was very active in sports during his academic career. He was a high jumper in track and he played football. Albert holds a personal record at East High School.
Albert joined the Army as a young man. He trained guard dogs during his time in the military.
Albert’s career took off in the transportation field. He became a truck driver for Titan Tire and the United States Post Office. Albert loved playing games of chance! He enjoyed playing the lottery. There wasn’t a game he didn’t play. Albert liked to go fishing and traveling. He was always taking the kids on adventures with him across the country.
Albert passed away on January 10, 2025, at the VA Hospital in Des Moines, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. George and Lucy Parrish; brother, George Parrish Jr.; sisters, Janice Parrish, Judith Parrish and Brenda Parrish Williams; grandson, Gionni Dameron; along with aunts and uncles on both sides of the family.
Those left to cherish Albert in loving memory are his siblings, Wilma Bruce, Ernest (Betty) Parrish, Terry Parrish; daughter, Heather Parrish; son, Albert Parrish Jr.; step-son, Ronnie Allison; step-daughter, Jehnna Allison; 4 grandchildren, Cyerra Kemp, Mykala Kemp, Juwan and Shykel; 13 great-grandchildren, Brion, NaTaesia, JaCyree, LaShad “Louie,” Giselle, Germani, Gia, Galiyah, Jazarrah, Jehziah, Cyniah, Cross and Carmello; along with a host of nieces and nephews.
