Albert Calvin Claytor Sr. was born on April 29, 1958 to Henry and Alberta (Bullock) Claytor Sr., in Des Moines, IA. He was educated in the Des Moines Public School District and graduated from Des Moines Technical High School in 1976.
At a young man, Albert learned how to drive and never stopped. He enjoyed driving so much that it became his chosen profession. He worked as a bus driver for Metropolitan Transit Authority, Des Moines Public School District and West Des Moines School District. His bright personality and joy filled laugh made him a well known driver throughout the city.
In 1989, Albert was joined in holy matrimony with his lovely wife, Roxanne. The two were blessed with three sons, Albert Jr., Bradley and Cameron. Albert was a committed example of a husband and father. He taught lessons about life and manhood while fishing with his sons. Through coaching the boys' football and baseball teams, Albert taught teamwork and character. And his Christian walk and service as a Deacon taught his sons the importance of having a relationship with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Albert was also instrumental in the lives of hundreds of other youth in the city and taught them these same values and concepts as well.
Albert was a long time member of Maple Street Baptist Church. He served in numerous capacities and was ordained as a Deacon in 2000.
On May 13, 2016 Albert was called from labor to reward. He was reunited on the other side with his wife, Roxanne; parents, Henry Sr. and Alberta Claytor; grandparents, Pearlie Bullock, Dorothy Turner, Odell Bullock and McQueen McDonald; and a sister, Della Williams
Left to cherish Albert's memory are his sons, Albert (Jessica) Claytor Jr., Bradley J. Claytor and Cameron (Sharlene) Claytor; six grandchildren; siblings, Valerie Willis, Henry Claytor Jr., Abdur, Rahim Hason and Dorothy Claytor and a host of other relatives and friends.
